And since every culture that observes Christmas might celebrate it differently, it seems like a good time of the year to discuss what Lithuanians do for this important Christian holiday.

Ledi Disko - Supermergaitė (euro disco, Lithuania 1995)
Here she appears again, the secretive Lithuanian disco girl "Ledi-Disko", with the title track of her second album (cassette) "Supermergaitė" released in 1996. Probably recorded in 1995 because this track can also be found in a collection cassette from 1995.

You'll find out all about preparation for Christmas, what are traditional Lithuanian dishes on Christmas Eve and learn some spells for the magical Christmas night.

I'm travelling around all 60 municipalities of Lithuania, a small country in the north of Europe.
Though now because of the covid-19 pandemic there is a quarantine in Lithuania, I will have to delay new video shoots until everything settles back to normal more or less.

INGREDIENTS👨🍳
Potato dough
Russet potatoes - 1 kg
Salt - 1 tsp
Dry potato starch - 1 tbsp
Filling
Ground pork - 350 g
Onion - 1, diced
Salt - 1 tsp
Black pepper - ½ tsp
Parsley - to taste
Dill - to taste
Topping/sauce
Onion - 1, diced
Bacon - 1/4 pound, fried crisp
Butter - 2 tbsp
Creme fraiche
Dill
PERSONAL NOTE ✒️
Cepelinai or didžkukuliai are delicious dumplings made of potatoes and stuffed with ground meat. It is a very popular Lithuanian dish. The dough is made from a mix of grated raw potatoes and riced boiled potatoes with potato starch (both dry and wet). Make sure you save the wet starch that settles after squeezing all the liquid out of the raw grated potatoes (toss the water but keep the starch at the bottom). For the filling, I simply used ground pork with sautéed onions. Still, you can really use any kind of meat combination, cheese curds, mushrooms, etc. - it’s really up to you. Traditionally, you boil the cepelinai in water, but it can be a little tricky because they can lose their integrity. Just be gentle handling them. Also, you could steam them instead of boiling them in water - it works well too.
Cepelinai are usually served with a topping of sauteed onions, crispy crumbled fried bacon, and sour cream (or creme fraiche). This is a hearty, delicious dish - 😋 Highly recommend!

Here she appears again, the secretive Lithuanian disco girl "Ledi-Disko", with the title track of her second album (cassette) "Supermergaitė" released in 1996. Probably recorded in 1995 because this track can also be found in a collection cassette from 1995.

Lithuania lies in the northern part of Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea, along with its neighbors Poland, Latvia and Estonia. A mostly agricultural country, Lithuanian customs highlight their love of nature, family and country. Come see how Lithuanians celebrate the birth of Jesus, when the land is asleep under a white blanket of snow.
